Mitsubishi changed his life from that passed into the hands of Nissan. Although its current strategy is fully oriented to the crossovers —and the Mirage— in Japan, and raised the idea of developing a new sedan that take advantage of any platform of Nissan and whose objective is to increase the volume of sales of the brand in America.
In an interview with Automotive News, Osamu Masuko, CEO of Mitsubishi said that from 2020 could launch a new sedan in the united States that would be, basically, a Nissan with design of Mitsubishi, and reconditioned to provide the special characteristics of the brand itself, but it will not be a development in itself, but a model relabelling.
Without going into further details, Osamu Masuko said that there are still no concrete plans for the development of such a vehicle, and that for now are focusing completely on the crossovers. Its intention is to increase 30% the volume of sales of Mitsubishi in both China and the united States, and they see it very viable with the release of the new Eclipse Cross and Outlander PHEV.
Such a model could be a new generation Mitsubishi Lancer, created from the next Nissan Sentra, although considering the relevance of the midsize sedan segment, there might be the possibility that this potential sedan from Mitsubishi is a Altima relabelling and that would be a new air for the name Galant.
