Overview
The Tesla Model X is Tesla's full-size luxury electric SUV β a 7-passenger vehicle defined by its Falcon-wing rear doors, which open vertically and require minimal side clearance. It is the only production SUV with these doors at any volume. Built at Gigafactory Fremont, California. The Model X competes with the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, and BMW X7 while offering far greater EV range and the unique door mechanism.
The Model X (from $84,990) exceeds the $80,000 MSRP cap for SUVs/trucks under the IRA. Neither trim qualifies for the $7,500 federal EV tax credit.

No other luxury full-size EV SUV matches the Model X's 5,000 lb towing rating. Plan charging stops carefully when towing β expect significant range reduction.
Reliability
Model X reliability is the weakest in the Tesla lineup due to the mechanical complexity of the Falcon-wing doors. Recurring door mechanism issues are well-documented. Powertrain is strong but the door actuators add failure points.
